THE BASICS AND HOW IT WORKS.

The basic requirements are that you be over 18, you've got an open and adventurous attitude and you share the aims of NOCONA Canada to promote cultural diversity and social awareness. You should also be mature enough to accept group living, and to cope with some uncertainty, as we cannot plan for everything that happens at or around a workcamp.

You should also remember that you are expected to work.

Living conditions vary by camp. We've had volunteers stay in tents, camp out in Church basements and stay at local YMCA's, or stay in the homes of local hosts. You will not however get hotel accommodations in any of our camps. In most camps, the volunteers contribute their cooking skills as a group. Food is provided by the local sponsors as is the accommodation.

Travel to and from the work project is the responsibility of the volunteer. Some camps are located in remote locations, in which case we will arrange a pick-up point. Follow the instructions in your information sheet, and be on time.

English is the language spoken in the majority of camps.
